From the City of Ottawa:

Ottawa – The City of Ottawa will be holding an open house to discuss the environmental impacts of the planned Downtown Ottawa Transit Tunnel (DOTT) light rail project. The session will provide residents with information on current environmental conditions, and an assessment of the impact of the project’s design, construction and operation.

Date: Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Time: 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Location: Ottawa City Hall, Jean Pigott Place, 110 Laurier Avenue West

Transit Routes: 5, 6, 14 and Transitway routes

In January 2010, City Council approved the functional design for the DOTT project, a light rail transit link between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair Road, with trains passing below downtown through twin 3.2-kilometre tunnels. A draft Environmental Project Report is being prepared to identify the scope of the project, and to describe the measures proposed to moderate and monitor its environmental impacts.

Residents are invited to take this opportunity to ask questions and share their comments on the environmental assessment of this major transit project. For more information on the DOTT project, visit ottawa.ca/tunnel or call 3-1-1 (TTY: 613-580-2401).
