Invitation to a Heritage Forum for Ottawa Communities

Are you worried about losing heritage buildings and resources in your community? Are you wondering how to identify and protect the heritage of your community? Do you know where to get advice on researching heritage buildings? what tools are available to protect heritage and how to get them in your community? how to find the expertise you need to convince others (including City Councillors and developers) that your heritage resources are worth protecting?

 then this forum is for you!

 Heritage Forum for Ottawa Communities

Sponsored by Heritage Ottawa and New Edinburgh Community Alliance

Objective: To help promote, protect, and preserve heritage inOttawa by strengthening ties between community groups working on local heritage issues (through collaborative action, better information-sharing, and more effective coordination)

When: Saturday, 15th October 2011, 1-5pm

(Optional short heritage walking tour of New Edinburgh at 12 noon)

What: A mix of short presentations, case studies, and open discussion

Where: Heritage-designated St. Bartholomew’s Church, 125 MacKay, New Edinburgh

Anticipated Topics:  Heritage awareness and publicity, opportunities for collaboration and networking, and sharing practical experiences (the good, the bad, and the ugly)

Anticipated Participants:  All are welcome, but the Forum is designed primarily for members of community heritage committees and other concerned members of community associations.
